Ex-enforcers diverge on vertical mergers

Former Federal Trade Commission economist Steve Salop called on the antitrust agencies to invigorate vertical merger enforcement by setting up new standards, but a former antitrust litigation director at the Department of Justice said Salop’s argument was an “out-there approach”.
