Dodgy dealings: The Tipline for 25 September 2023

It is not clear that the entire Democratic party is on board with the Biden Administration’s desire to promote competition. The Department of Justice charged Senator Robert Menendez on Friday with accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bribes. Among other things, the DOJ says a New Jersey business paid Menendez to urge US food regulators to stop complaining about its monopoly over certifying meat shipped to Egypt as halal compliant.
