Having your conduct fall under the purview of the Federal Trade Commission is not a get-out-of-jail-free card. The commission issued a reminder on Thursday that it still has the power to issue criminal referrals even if it will not be the one doing the prosecuting. Advertised as an “expansion”, the FTC says it will now regularly issue reports and convene meetings related to its referral programme.
