A sales executive at one of the Big Four title insurers has failed to convince a Californian appellate court that he was fired for breaching an alleged anticompetitive non-compete agreement that his company struck with a business it was trying to acquire. The Federal Trade Commission eventually blocked Fidelity Financial’s attempted merger with Stewart Information Services but the company is at least now free from California’s Cartwright Act, the court said. Also in Tipline, former New York City transit employees get probation and house arrest for bid rigging.
