Dead letter: The Tipline for 22 April 2020
In 1993, future Federal Trade Commission chair Robert Pitofsky said the section of US antitrust law barring monopolisation had virtually become a dead letter. With the exception of Microsoft and Qualcomm, much of the progressive antitrust community believes not much has changed. Competition academics and advocates weighed-in on the adequacy of US antitrust law in submissions made last week to the House of Representatives antitrust subcommittee as part of its investigation into digital markets.
