Cruising for a bruising: The Tipline for 21 September 2023

Senator Ted Cruz, the former director of the Federal Trade Commission’s office of policy planning, closed out Wednesday’s Commerce Committee hearing with a crusade against the agency’s work-from-home policy. Critiquing a lack of office attendance, Cruz said steelworkers, truck drivers and waitresses working across the US “don’t have the chance to go play golf on Fridays and Mondays” and treat their work like a “part-time job”. FTC attorneys doing Big Law hours for general schedule pay might be surprised to learn of such perks. Also in Tipline, Senator Amy Klobuchar promotes a new chief competition lawyer.
