Until we hear otherwise, we plan to be at the Federal Trade Commission this afternoon for the final pre-hearing conference in the agency’s case against the Tronox/Cristal merger. Tronox has asked for the litigation to be paused as the company tries to hammer out conditional approval for the deal at the European Commission. But the FTC’s complaint counsel are having none of it, calling the request “just another of several unsuccessful attempts by respondents to delay or avoid the trial on the merits that is about to begin”.
