Crackdown: The Tipline for 17 March 2022
During his State of the Union address earlier this month, President Biden promised a “crackdown” on “about half a dozen or less foreign-owned” ocean carriers. On Wednesday, the world’s second-largest container shipping company, Danish-owned Maersk, revealed that it had received a subpoena from the Department of Justice as the enforcer probes supply chain disruptions. Also in Tipline, Senator Elizabeth Warren introduces legislation that would allow the US enforcers to block mergers without a court injunction.
