If California were an independent country, it would have the fifth-largest gross domestic product in the world. The state’s legislature has initiated some of the US’s most progressive competition-related laws, including the prohibition of noncompete agreements. But some plaintiffs are finding that the prohibition may not be as far-reaching as they wish, evidenced by an appellate court decision issued last week.
