During day two of US v Google, the Department of Justice teed up an internal presentation instructing Google’s search engine team on “antitrust basics” including avoiding references to “market share” and sports metaphors. That policy clearly does not apply to Chris Barton, Google’s first head of mobile partnerships, who departed for free agency in 2011. Barton, who brags about being deposed by the Antitrust Division on his LinkedIn, testified on Wednesday about Google’s ability to win even on a level playing field.
