The Federal Trade Commission heard oral arguments yesterday with all five of its new members for the first time. They made for a hot bench in front of complaint counsel Chuck Loughlin and Impax counsel Ted Hassi, himself a former chief litigation counsel to the agency. Also in Washington, DC, a Democratic appointee to the Securities and Exchange Commission said his agency needed an office of antitrust economics to resurrect its forgotten mission of ensuring competition in financial markets services.
