Constitutional for now: The Asia-Pacific Tipline for 30 October 2020
There are still some places in the world without a competition law at all. In the case of Pakistan, major players in almost every industry have spent the past decade challenging the constitutionality of the country’s competition act, which the antitrust watchdog says has hampered its enforcement efforts. The Lahore High Court this week upheld the constitutional validity of the law, but with 90 cases and even more petitioners involved in the matter, it is almost definitely heading to the Supreme Court.
