Amy Manning helms the growing competition practice at McGuireWoods in Chicago, a key player in the city’s antitrust bar. Roughly 30% to 50% of the competition work done by this team involves confidential criminal cases.

On the plaintiffs’ side, the firm is acting for valve maker Nibco, which has accused rival Viega of illegally tying the sale of its copper press fittings to the sale of its carbon steel press fittings. In 2018, a Pennsylvania federal court refused to dismiss the lawsuit, finding that Nibco showed plausible violations of the Sherman Act, the Clayton Act and state common law. McGuireWoods is also representing drug maker Fresenius Kabi in its complaint against Par, a subsidiary of Endo Pharmaceuticals. Fresenius has accused Par of allegedly of abusing its monopoly power by preventing rivals acquiring the active molecule in a critical antidiuretic drug. The case survived a motion to dismiss.
