Croatia’s Competition Agency Croatia adopted its first Competition Act in 1995 Mladen Cerovac, who was a member of the negotiating team for Croatia’s accession to the EU, was appointed agency president in March 2015 The agency focuses on transparency and bid-rigging Current president Mladen Cerovac leads 42 staffers, of whom 23 are either economists or lawyers, at Croatia’s Competition Agency. Their numbers have steadily declined since 2012, when the agency had a total staff of 53. The budget – which is set by the national government – has dropped off, too; in 2012, the authority’s budget was €2.6 million, but only €1.57 million in 2017.
