Botswana’s Competition Authority The agency was established in 2011 Chief executive Tebelelo Pule assumed the role in April 2016, after the agency’s first leader Thula Kaira steppeddown It has carried out 125 in-depth merger investigations Tebelelo Pule, who was the agency’s former director of corporate services, now helms Botswana’s Competition Authority. His team includes two lawyers and three economists, a size reflecting what the agency considers to be two of its key challenges: budgetary constraints and not enough staff. Nonetheless, the authority is trying to work around the problem: it has found some funding from donors; engages with the ministry of trade, investment and industry; and hires temporary staff and interns where needed.
