36, partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in Washington, DC I started at Cleary Gottlieb in 2007 after graduating law school. I was fortunate to join the antitrust group from the start and have practised in the area ever since. I was and remain drawn to the intersection between law and business, and not only representing companies, but learning the details of their day-to-day business and the markets in which they operate. My very favourite part of the job is still sitting down with business people and interviewing them about their products, markets and competitors. It’s especially gratifying when our work as antitrust counsel can help businesses reach their goals, which is part of why I enjoy merger work so much. I also like the fast pace of merger work (even if it’s not quite as fast as it was a few years ago!) and the ability to see multiple matters from start to finish in a year.
