As the pioneer competition lawyer in China, Dr Zhan Hao has extensive experience in the practice of the Anti-Monopoly Law, including in the field of antitrust private litigation, antitrust investigation, concentration filing and antitrust compliance.Dr Zhan has represented clients in a number of high-profile antitrust private litigations. He successfully represented SINOPEC in the first antitrust litigation in oil sector of China. He also successfully defended for Panasonic in an antitrust litigation brought by its distributors. Currently, Dr Zhan is also assisting clients in several multinational clients in antitrust litigations related to IP issues, such as the Hitachi Metals case.Dr Zhan also specialises in providing legal service for antitrust investigation cases. He represented client in China’s first antitrust investigation against price cartel and obtained investigation suspension. He represented a leading LCD manufacturer in China’s first follow-up investigation against price cartel. He provided defence for a Japanese auto parts manufacturer in NDRC antitrust investigation against price cartels, and successfully obtained a fine reduction for client after NDRC issued the pre-notice for penalty, which is the first time in China’s antitrust enforcement. He also served clients in the NDRC investigations against PVC manufacturers and port companies.He has also assisted many multinational and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in concentration antitrust filings in China and has secured approvals for all transactions he has represented until now. From 2009 to 2018, Dr Zhan has consecutively been awarded as ‘Recommended Antitrust Lawyer in PRC jurisdiction’ by various organisations many times, eg, Chambers & Partners, Who’s Who, Expert Guide, Practical Law Company and Global Competition Review.
