Vincent Brophy represents clients before the competition authorities in mergers and antitrust investigations, as well as in related litigation before the EU and national courts. Vincent also advises on EU business regulation, particularly in financial services. He works in both English and French.Vincent has acted in some of the largest mergers and most complex antitrust cases. Notable career mandates include representation of Proctor & Gamble in its merger with Gillette, the defence of Dell in the EU Intel investigation, the defence of MasterCard in multiple proceedings, as well as numerous investment banking matters for Deutsche Bank, Barclays and others.Vincent has long been ranked in the key legal directories, including Legal 500 UK,  Who’s Who Legal: Competition and Chambers. He is variously reported to be “highly rated by rivals” and to ‘excel in conduct work’. He is commended as a ‘Class act . . . client-focused, a very silky operator. Behind the smooth veneer is an excellent and tough legal mind’.He and his team are noted for having “carved out a seriously good reputation for financial services” and antitrust. He has won several awards for his client work, including the Global Competition Review award for “European Behavioural Matter of the Year” for his representation of Deutsche Bank in the European Commission’s investigation into the credit default swaps markets.He regularly publishes and is a member of the editorial board of the European Competition Journal.
