Terence P Stewart is the managing partner of the Law Offices of Stewart and Stewart, a 53-year-old Washington-based trade law and government relations firm. Stewart’s practice focuses on international trade, including WTO negotiations and disputes, regional and bilateral trade agreements, compliance counselling, trade remedies (ie, anti-dumping, countervailing duties, safeguards, China product-specific safeguards), and customs enforcement, litigation, and negotiations. He has been involved in literally hundreds of trade remedy disputes in the United States, cases before the US courts, and dispute settlement proceedings under bilateral, plurilateral, and multilateral agreements. He has helped shape trade policy on behalf of clients in Washington, DC and Geneva.Mr Stewart is a keen observer and analyst of the trends and economic policies that are shaping global commerce. Among his 100-plus publications is the most widely cited work in WTO proceedings, The GATT Uruguay Round: A Negotiating History (1986-1992)(Vols. I-III); The End Game (Part I)(Vol IV).Mr Stewart is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, where he received his law degree. He holds an MBA from Harvard University and a BA from the College of the Holy Cross. He also received an honorary Doctorate from the Ukrainian Academy of Foreign Trade and an honorary Doctorate of political science from the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2009, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the 3rd Degree by the government of Ukraine.
