Skaidrīte Ābrama has been the chairwoman of the Competition Council of Latvia since June 2012. In 2017, she was reappointed by the Cabinet of Ministers for a second five-year term. She was born in Riga, studied at the University of Latvia International Business and Economics, finished postgraduate studies in economics and business management at Swiss Institutes AKAD and IMAKA (mandated by Transfer Foundation, St Gallen), and holds a master’s degree in business administration. She has been with Competition Council since 2004, first appointed for a five-year term as a board member. She then worked in the position of chief economist. Before entering the Competition Council, she worked for various businesses in managerial positions. Her main duties in her current position at the authority are the administration of people, projects and budgets, ensuring the further development of the institution in accordance with its strategy, as well as making decisions on cases investigated by the executive body of the authority with the other two board members.
