Sam is an associate in Herbert Smith Freehills’ Brussels office dealing with all areas of EU competition law, including merger control and antitrust. Sam has expertise in a variety of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, aviation and technology, media and telecommunications. In the pharmaceutical sector, Sam has experience advising clients on the competition law implications of their patent enforcement strategies and their settlement and licensing agreements. Sam's knowledge of this sector is enhanced by the time he spent as a trainee in Herbert Smith Freehills’ intellectual property litigation practice, where he gained experience advising clients on the coordination of their patent litigation strategies across a number of European jurisdictions.Sam studied law at the University of Sheffield, the University of Vienna and Bucerius Law School (Hamburg). He qualified as a solicitor in 2019.
