Richard Hochstetler is one of Tendências's project coordinators responsible for expert opinions on antitrust and regulatory issues, and market analysis. He received his BA in Economics from Goshen College, United States, and his PhD in Economics from University of São Paulo (FEA-USP). Prior to joining Tendências, Mr Hochstetler worked as a research assistant at the World Bank, and as a specialist of public utilities at the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington, DC. In 2000, he participated of an internship programme at CADE (the Brazilian Antitrust Commission), where he conducted a comparative study of international mergers and acquisitions guidelines. He also lectured courses in microeconomics and energy economics at the University of São Paulo. In the past five years at Tendências he has been involved in studies in a large variety of industries, including electricity, gas, telecommunications, port and road concessions, petrochemicals, pulp and paper, chemicals, real estate, beverages, payment cards, software and media.
