Ricardo Pons Mestre is a partner in the antitrust and competition practice. He advises clients on economic competition (focusing on merger control, cartel investigations, substantial power, preventive consultation and customer training programmes, corporate and mining practices). Ricardo actively participates in mergers and acquisitions, representing Mexican and international clients.

Ricardo joined Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa (now Hogan Lovells) in 1993. His experience includes representing 21st Century Fox in a worldwide merger with Disney in Mexico; advising Amcor regarding the worldwide acquisition of Bemis in relation to local merger control proceedings; representing Bayer AG in remedy compliance with respect its acquisition of Monsanto; and advising Cancun International Airport in a alleged abuse of dominance as to taxi entry into the airport.

Ricardo has a law degree from the Autonomous Technology Institute of Mexico (1993) and an LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1997).

He is ranked in band 2 by Chambers Latin America (2021) and recommended by The Legal 500: Latin America (2017–2021) for competition and antitrust. He is also recommended by LACCA for antitrust (2017–2021) and by Who’s Who Legal: Mexico for competition and mining (2020–2021) and as a Thought Leader (2021).
