Pinar is a partner in Competition Economics Group (CEG) with over 15 years' experience of advising clients on the economics of competition, regulation and damages assessment.Pinar has particular expertise in financial markets where she has advised some of Europe's largest banks and payment system providers on competition and regulatory matters. Her clients include First Data Corporation, the European Payments Council, HBOS, Euroclear and Barclays Bank, among others. Pinar has also worked extensively with the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) for whom she has led several studies on financial market regulation including the review of mortgage and insurance market regulations, proposed reform of financial advisory services and potential conflicts of interest in investment banking.Pinar's other competition work includes providing economic support in EC Article 81 and 82 cases. Recent cases have included the EC European flat glass cartel investigation and the EC Microsoft case. She has also provided economic support in several Phase II merger investigations in the UK and at EC level.Pinar has a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge and has also held research positions and internships at the Department of Applied Economics at Cambridge University, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Prior to joining CEG Europe Pinar held directorships at two international economic consulting firms.
