Nikhil Pillai
Nikhil Pillai is a member of AZB & Partners’ competition team and is based in New Delhi. With over four years of experience in dispute resolution, he advises on a range of contentious as well as non‐contentious competition law matters. Nikhil is currently involved in defending a variety of clients in major cartel and abuse of dominance cases in the aviation, cement, chemicals, automobile and film production sectors, among others before the Competition Commission of India (CCI), the Director General (investigative arm of the CCI), the Competition Appellate Tribunal, and the Delhi High Court. Nikhil also has experience in major competition clearance transactions before the CCI. He has assisted major India-based and multinational corporations in the energy, telecommunications and technology sectors to obtain merger clearances. Prior to joining AZB & Partners, Nikhil litigated a number of civil and criminal cases before various courts in India, including the Supreme Court of India.Nikhil enrolled with the Bar Council of India in 2010 and has been practising since. He received his LLB (Hons) in 2010 from Amity Law School, GGSIPU University, New Delhi (India). He obtained his LLM in 2014 from Columbia Law School, New York (USA) where he won the 2014 International Arbitration Moot Court competition.
