Mélanie Thill-Tayara is the lead partner for Dechert’s antitrust and competition practice in France. An authority in the European and French antitrust space, entrusted with high-stakes, bet-the-company matters by some of the world’s leading businesses, Mélanie has years of experience and a phenomenal track record.

On the litigation side, she has handled a significant number of cartel and abuse of dominance cases before EU and French authorities and courts.

She also regularly represents leading companies in merger notifications before the French and European regulators and coordinates multi-jurisdictional filings. Co-lead of Dechert’s global life sciences practice, she is particularly noted for her experience in this crucial antitrust sector. Under her stewardship, Dechert Paris is now the premier law firm in France for life sciences, pharmaceutical and healthcare antitrust cases, regularly representing major pharma companies. This profound knowledge of a highly regulated industry has led to her being selected by major tech and digital companies to represent their interests on recent antitrust matters. Her 30 years in private practice have also seen her represent clients across a diverse range of other sectors, including financial services, consumer goods, construction and many more.

A thought leader in the competition space, Mélanie is one of the founding members of the Association of Competition Law Practitioners, is a member of premier French legal think tank Le Club des Juristes, frequently publishes articles in leading legal journals and is a much sought-after speaker at industry conferences.

Before working in private practice, Mélanie was an officer at the European Commission, Directorate General for Competition, where she participated in numerous dawn raid operations and contributed to the adoption of several landmark decisions.
