The author previously worked as economic and financial analysis specialist at El Salvador’s Central Reserve Bank. Currently, she holds the position of Chief Economist (Intendente Económico), at El Salvador’s Competition Authority (Superintendencia de Competencia), and as so her main duties include the direction of mergers process analysis, the conduction of market studies and Opinions regarding any aspect of El Salvador’s national legal framework and public procurements that may harm competition. Under her watch, many national emblematic merger cases have taken such as Claro-Digicel merger denial (Telecommunications) and the on-going analysis of Sab-Miller’s purchase over Ab Inbev (Beer manufacturing and distribution). Her research experience includes the study of price-fixing behavior in the telecom sector and abuse of dominant position in the Sugar industry, among others.
