Maria Elena Bertrand Olano
Maria Elena Bertrand Olano is a Salvadorean lawyer and public notary, with Bachelor of Legal Sciences and a Master’s degree in Financial Law and Business. She worked as a legal examiner of patent applications in the Register of Intellectual Property of the National Registration Centre, and has expertise in commercial law from having worked in the Registry of Commerce. Since 2008 she has been part of the Advocacy Unit of the Superintendency of Competition as responsible for promoting competition benefits and managing citizen participation, competition assessment, legal negotiations in competition affairs, inter-institutional relations and public relations, issuing legal opinions on international documents, developing institutional texts on competition, academic articles in reference to competition law. She also manages the authority’s Internships Programme and cooperates with legal opinions for the cooperation the authority gives to the Ministry of Economic in free trade agreement negotiations with chapters on competition. She is currently the legal coordinator of the Intendency of Competition Advocacy.
