Madeleine Renaud
Madeleine Renaud is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s competition law group in Montreal. She advises a broad range of Canadian and international clients on all aspects of Canadian competition law, including merger review and criminal investigations. She also practises litigation focusing on class actions related to alleged cartel activities, both nationally and internationally, with respect to a wide range of products, as well as administrative, constitutional and regulatory law. She has been involved in several landmark cases involving competition legislation before the courts and the Competition Tribunal. In 2007, she was awarded the title advocatus emeritus by the Quebec Bar in recognition of her professional excellence, outstanding contribution to the profession and exceptional outreach.Ms Renaud is rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and appears as a leading competition lawyer in the most recent editions of Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in Canada, PLC Which Lawyer, Competition Law Handbook (Practical Law Company), and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. She is also featured in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s Leading Competition & Antitrust Lawyers and Guide to the World’s Leading Women in Business Law, and was selected by Global Competition Review as one of the ‘Top 100 Women in Antitrust’. Ms Renaud received her civil law degree (LLL), summa cum laude, and her common law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Bars of Quebec and Ontario in 1988 and 1989, respectively. She is fluent in both English and French.
