Senior advocacy officerLilian K Mukoronia holds an MA in economics (University of Nairobi), a BA in business studies (Moi University), a diploma in project planning and development management (Bradford University, UK) and certificates in competition regulation and law and senior management Her main interests are in competition regulation. Since May 2014 she has been a senior advocacy officer in the Competition Authority of Kenya’s Advocacy Unit. Previously she was the head of the International Affairs Unit at the Competition Authority since its establishment in August 2011. She is responsible for: advising on national, regional and international competition and consumer welfare matters; coordinating the Authority’s participation in regional and international meetings and conferences; advising on the alignment of the national competition law with international best practices; coordinating stakeholder-awareness fora in liaison with other divisions; coordination of contributions to relevant publications and international competition network events; and responding to enquiries from government agencies and other stakeholders on relevant competition issues. Previously, Lilian was the head of Mergers Division in the former Monopolies and Prices Commission Department, Ministry of Finance, since 2005. She also actively participated in the peer review on competition law and policy in Kenya by UNCTAD that came up with recommendations that partly contributed to the enactment of the current Competition Act, No. 12 of 2010.
