Konstantinos Adamantopoulos

Dr Adamantopoulos is the managing partner of the firm's Brussels office and heads the firm's competition, trade and EU regulatory team. He is a member of the Athens and Brussels Bars and holds a doctorate in law (magna cum laude) from the Universität des Saarlandes, Germany. Dr Adamantopoulos has been practising law since 1984 and joined Hammonds in 1994. He is a member of the European Trade Law Association, the German-Greek Law Association, the European Law Association and is an affiliate member of the American Bar Association. He speaks English, German and Greek and has a working knowledge of French.Dr Adamantopoulos has in-depth expertise in cartel law, state aid and merger control as well as international trade law. Among his most recent notable experiences are advising the European Commission on state aid and representing a number of major shipping, manufacturing and air transport companies in matters relating to competition rules and merger control. He successfully challenged aid received by Air France before the Court of First Instance and, in another case, the European Commission's failure to give due consideration to a complaint filed by BEUC concerning motor vehicle distribution. Dr Adamantopoulos has also represented a third party government in a major WTO dispute before the Dispute Settlement Body.He is the author of Subsidies and GATT, EU Anti-Subsidy Law and Practice and is the editor of The Anatomy of WTO. He regularly writes and lectures on competition, air transport, state aid and international and EU trade issues.
