Julia ( Julie) McEvoy is a well-rounded antitrust litigator who defends clients against a variety of civil and criminal claims and investigations.
On the civil front, Julie obtained a complete defense verdict for Sanofi on charges it filed a sham ‘citizen petition’ with the Food and Drug Administration to suppress competition for Arava, and is currently defending the company against antitrust, consumer protection and state attorney general lawsuits concerning its insulin products. Julie is also defending beef and poultry processing companies against claims they conspired with competitors to suppress input costs or inflate product prices.
In addition, Julie has extensive experience in criminal antitrust matters, conducting and resolving investigations and defending follow-on civil litigation. She also represents clients in merger matters, including the Federal Trade Commission’s challenge to the combination of Penn State’s Hershey Medical Center with the Pinnacle Health System, and Axon Enterprise’s acquisition of Vievu LLC.
During the Obama administration, Julie served as Deputy Associate Attorney General, counseled Department of Justice principals on significant matters, and led inter-agency initiatives. She oversaw the Antitrust Division and participated in formulating policies and strategies for investigating, litigating and resolving civil and criminal antitrust cases. Julie also advised administration officials on immigration issues and directed the President’s Task Force on Puerto Rico.
