Jorge Fagundes
Jorge Fagundes earned his PhD in 2003 and MS in 1995 in economics from the Institute of Industrial Economics at UFRJ. Mr Fagundes was professor in the chairs of International Monetary and Financial System, International Trade Theory, International Economics and Antitrust at Cândido Mendes University, Rio de Janeiro, between 1991 and 2002. He was a professor in the post graduation course Economic and Regulation Law at Fundação Getúlio Vargas – Rio de Janeiro from 2006 to 2009. He also lectures frequently on antitrust and regulation issues and has published more than 40 articles, some chapters of books and one book in antitrust and industrial organisation fields. Mr Fagundes is currently the main partner of FA Consultoria Econômica, a leading economic consulting firm specialised in the application of economics to litigation in antitrust, regulation, private contracts and commercial policy (dumping).Mr Fagundes has served as an expert in numerous complex cases, involving issues of antitrust, regulation and dumping in industries ranging from telecommunications, insurance, banks, chemicals, credit and debit cards, newspapers, beer, juices, carbonated beverages, chocolate, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, e-commerce, pay-tv, steel, pulp and paper, iron ore, industrial gases, shopping centres, aluminium, cigarettes, petrochemicals, internet, aluminium and copper wire and cable, ports, meat processing, durable goods retail, music copyrights, auto parts, cars, sports broadcasting rights, health care services, shoes, air freights, toys, cans and food retail and has also served as a consultant for the Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica (CADE) regarding the 1999 Anti-competitive Conduct Guidelines.
