John Eichlin represents US and international clients in all phases of the merger review process and advises on a broad range of antitrust and regulatory issues relating to cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other business arrangements. He also counsels clients on enforcement and compliance matters relating to cartels, monopolisation, abuse of dominance, vertical restraints and other antitrust law issues. John has a particular focus on guiding clients through complex global antitrust issues facing them in innovative industries, including the technology, financial services and pharmaceutical sectors.

John has previously supported clients from Linklaters’ Beijing office and has co-authored several articles on the Chinese Anti-Monopoly Law, including Best Asian Antitrust Business Article at the 2016 Concurrences Antitrust Writing Awards.

Recent highlights of John’s client work include advising Linde AG on its US$90 billion merger of equals with Praxair Inc; Deutsche Börse AG on its proposed mergers with NYSE Euronext and the London Stock Exchange; Novartis on its strategic portfolio transformation, including the acquisition of GSK’s global oncology business and the sales of its vaccines businesses to GSK and CSL; a leading entry solutions provider on the acquisition of a competing smart lock manufacturer; and ThyssenKrupp on the sale of its US steel business to a consortium of ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel.
