Joanna Christoforou has experience representing clients in EU and UK competition matters before the European Commission, the European Court, the Competition and Markets Authority, the Financial Conduct Authority, the Competition Appeal Tribunal, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court and antitrust authorities in other jurisdictions. She defends clients in cartel or abuse of dominance investigations and court proceedings, competition disputes, dawn raids, damages actions, advises clients on competition compliance matters, and represents clients in complex merger control matters. Joanna works across a broad range of industries, including pharma and life sciences, technology, retail, grocery, e-commerce, financial services, commodities and healthcare. She is admitted to practise in England and Wales and in the Republic of Ireland.
Joanna is a member of the team that scored a landmark victory in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal for Sainsbury’s against Visa. Joanna is also a member of the team which was awarded Behavioural Matter of the Year – Europe for ‘Challenges to CMA Search Warrants’ by Global Competition Review in 2018.
