Janine Simpson

Janine Simpson is a partner in the Competition Practice at Webber Wentzel.She advises local and international clients on all aspects of competition law, including merger control, cartel and other prohibited practice investigations, exemption applications and competition law compliance. Her specific focus area is merger control in South Africa and other African countries.Janine has extensive experience in matters involving the South African competition authorities, as well as numerous national and regional competition authorities in the rest of Africa, including the COMESA Competition Commission. Her experience extends across a wide range of sectors including advertising, agri-processing, airline, chemical, construction, financial, information and communication technology, insurance and mining.Prior to joining Webber Wentzel, she lectured constitutional law and clerked for the Honourable Justice Richard Goldstone at the Constitutional Court.Janine has a B.Com degree and an LLB degree, with distinction, from the University of Pretoria. She also has an LLM degree, with distinction, from Emory University.
