Iona Dhladhla

Iona was appointed a director in 2010. Before joining Bowman Gilfillan in 2003, she spent some time at the Competition Commission, during which she was involved in a number of prominent matters. She was appointed a director in the corporate department, specialising in competition and consumer law.  Iona has advised clients on various aspects of the Competition Act and the Consumer Protection Act. She handles all aspects of competition law, including merger control, cartel and other prohibited practice investigations and competition compliance. She advises on multi-jurisdictional African mergers. She was also involved in the first market inquiry conducted by the Competition Commission into the banking sector.  Iona was involved in the Nestlé/Pfizer merger, which recently won the Global Competition Review award for Merger Control Matter of the Year 2013, Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa.
