Gonçalo Anastácio is an equity partner, board member and head of the competition law department at SRS Advogados. He was, until 2009, a partner of international law firm Simmons & Simmons (having worked in the London headquarters). Gonçalo is one of the leading names in the competition law field in Portugal and ranked top band by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, and consistently involved in high-profile cases before the Portuguese Competition Authority and the European Commission. Gonçalo studied at the University of Coimbra, holds a post-graduate degree in European Studies from the Sorbonne (Paris I), and a master’s degree in EC/competition law from the University of Lisbon, where he has lectured for many years on EU and competition law at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. He is a regular speaker at competition law conferences and the author of many works on antitrust, including co-editor of two major market references: the only Portuguese commentary, article by article, of the ‘Lisbon Treaty’; and of commentary, article by article, to the Portuguese Competition Law.
