Felipe Irarrázabal was appointed as the Chilean National Economic Prosecutor in April 2010 by the President of the Republic at that time, Mr Sebastian Piñera, through a selection process conducted by the agency in charge of recruiting high-level public officials. The appointment was renewed by the current President of the Republic, Ms Michelle Bachelet, for an additional period of four years.He holds a law degree from Universidad de Chile (summa cum laude) and an LLM from Yale University School of Law, USA.Prior to his appointment as National Economic Prosecutor, he was a partner at the law firm Philippi, Yrarrázaval, Pulido & Brunner. Additionally, he worked as a stagiaire at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York, USA in 1998.Since 2000, he has been a professor of economic law at the School of Law of Universidad de Chile and teaches graduate programmes at several universities.
