Faustino Flamarique is a partner with the Caracas-based law firm of Imery Urdaneta Calleja Itriago & Flamarique and a member of the firm's antitrust and regulatory group. Prior to joining the firm, Mr Flamarique served at the Office of the Superintendent for the Promotion and Protection of Free Competition (Procompetencia), since its foundation in 1992, first as trial attorney, later as director of research and, finally, as general counsel. In 1996, he joined the law firm of D'Empaire Reyna Bermudez, serving as a partner in the free competition department through 2006. Mr Flamarique has designed regulations for economic concentrations and vertical agreements and has represented Venezuela at various international forums and meetings. In addition, Mr. Flamarique advised the Andean Community in the drafting of proposed merger control regulations for Peru. He is a professor of law and economics at Universidad Monteávila.
