Eric M Runesson combines his practice as a lawyer with research and tutoring in the fields of contract law, negotiation and dispute resolution. Since 2003 he has been part time active as adjunct professor at the department of trade law at Lund University.He has extensive experience of acting as counsel in commercial disputes in both courts and before arbitral tribunals, especially in the fields of M&A, licensing, distribution and professional negligence. He is often retained as an arbitrator in Swedish and international arbitral proceedings and is named in Chambers Global 2007 as one of the most sought-after arbitrators in Sweden. An expanding field of activity is mediation. Eric M Runesson is chairman of the Mediation Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and is considered one of the Swedish pioneers in the field. He is one of few Swedish lawyers who is accredited with CEDR (Center for Effective Dispute Resolution). He is also appointed by the Swedish government as one of its three mediators at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Even though Eric M Runesson's activities in the dispute resolution field occupy most of his time, he is still highly active as a negotiation advisor in complex transactions; especially transactions which main focus involve the exploitation of intellectual property. For example, he was called on to facilitate negotiations between universities and the business community regarding drafting of template agreements for collaborative research and development work. He is the author of several books and articles in the field of negotiation techniques and is often engaged to give negotiation courses.
