Édgar Martín Padilla is part of the antitrust team of Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez. His practice has mostly focused on advising national and international companies in complex pre-merger authorisations, cartel investigations and procedures before regulatory entities, as well as compliance programmes. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for the Mexican government as an economic policy and foreign investment adviser. Mr Martín holds a master’s degree in political economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and an LLM in economic analysis of law from the University of Salamanca. He obtained his law degree from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, where he graduated top of his class, and also holds a postgraduate degree in statistics from the National Math Research Center (CIMAT).

He has participated in complex merger control procedures before the Competition Authority in Mexico and has been able to design successful compliance strategies, joint ventures, as well as helping heavy regulated companies and private equity funds to navigate merger control and FDI requirements in Mexico.

Mr Martín has co-authored articles in the most prestigious antitrust publications and has recently joined the ITAM and the ITESM as a professor of competition law and regulation.
