Christopher Margison is a partner in the competition and foreign investment review group. He has represented and advised clients on many aspects of competition law including mergers, price fixing, strategic alliances, distribution and pricing practices, and misleading advertising matters.Chris has experience in a wide variety of industries including the entertainment, telecommunications, information technology, agricultural, manufacturing, plastics and consumer products sectors. Recently Chris has acted in numerous significant mergers and acquisitions including for Agricore United in its acquisition by Wheat Pool; and for Cineplex Galaxy Income Fund in its acquisition of the Famous Players movie exhibition business from Viacom.Chris also acted in Trilogy's acquisition of Chapters and the subsequent merger of Indigo and Chapters; and in General Mills' purchase of Pillsbury's worldwide businesses from Diageo; and for Shell Petroleum and BASF in connection with the proposed merger of their polyolefins businesses. Similarly, Chris acted for SDL on the Canadian competition aspects of its merger with JDS Uniphase, EMI Group over its proposed merger with Time Warner, and Black & Decker in its acquisitions of the Baldwin and Weiser lock business from Masco and the Pentair Tools Group from Pentair.Chris has co-authored several articles on competition law including articles published in Antitrust Magazine and Canadian Competition Record. In addition, Chris is the contributing author for the competition law section of Legal Alert and the Canadian Developments section of Sherman Act Section 1 Newsletter, and a regular contributor to FTC Watch.,/p>Chris graduated at the top of the English Common Law Program at the University of Ottawa in 1998. Chris graduated from the Business Administration Program at the University College of the Fraser Valley.
