Dr Catherine Manley is qualified both as a US attorney (California and D.C.) and as a solicitor (England and Wales), focused on intellectual property and antitrust matters. Dr Manley‘s IP practice focuses on the enforcement and licensing of a broad range of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. She has extensive experience structuring, negotiating, and coordinating multi-jurisdictional intellectual property matters, including the drafting and implementation of cross-border settlement licenses.Dr Manley’s antitrust practice is focused on the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust law, concentrating on key issues such as alleged abusive dominance related to patents, refusals to license, compulsory licenses and their enforcement, and other behavioral cases under European competition law. She also provides strategic advice for clients during Commission and European Court proceedings, as well as assisting with defenses to – and private damage claims following – European Commission investigations.Prior to joining the firm, Dr Manley worked for seven years at Fenwick & West LLP in Mountain View, California, specializing in IP licensing, and thereafter at Allen & Overy LLP in Frankfurt, Germany. Dr Manley obtained her BA from Yale University and her JD from Stanford University, and was a research assistant at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School. She obtained her LL.M. (summa cum laude) and her Ph D (summa cum laude) from Philipps-Universität Marburg, where she lectures on US intellectual property law.Contact:[email protected]
