Amanda Butler
Amanda Butler joined the EU and competition team of SJ Berwin in 2008. Prior to joining SJ Berwin she was an assistant director in the advisory, policy and international department at the Office of Fair Trading. She was responsible for providing legal and policy advice on all aspects of UK competition law, in particular cartels and behavioural issues, merger control and policy projects, including private enforcement. She was also responsible for appeals policy and advised heavily on contentious matters, defending the OFT's decisions in the UK courts and Competition Appeal Tribunal. She has worked closely with the European Commission including on multi-jurisdictional cartel investigations and the 'modernisation' of competition enforcement.Before joining the OFT Amanda was a senior associate in Dundas & Wilson's EU & competition team, specialising in EC and UK competition law. Amanda is qualified in English and Scots law and holds a diploma on EC Competition Law from King's College, London.
