As a senior associate at Hogan Lovells, Alfredo Gómez Álvarez advises on the full range of EU and competition law (including unfair competition) as well as foreign direct investment matters. He has extensive experience in major multi-jurisdictional coordination and merger control filings before the European Commission, the Spanish competition authority and other worldwide competition authorities.
In addition, Alfredo is a regular lecturer on competition law at the Carlos III University of Madrid. He is also a board member of the Spanish Association for the Defence of Competition and a member of the Antitrust Committee at the International Bar Association.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Alfredo was an associate at another major international law firm in Madrid, and a Bluebook trainee at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission in Brussels. Alfredo holds an LLM in competition law (distinction) from King’s College London and an MA in European interdisciplinary studies at the College of Europe. He is also the author of several legal publications. Alfredo speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian.
