Agnete Gersing

Agnete Gersing is Director General of the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority, appointed on 1 August 2006. When the Danish Competition Authority and the Danish Consumer Authority merged into the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority in August 2010 she became Director General of the new authority.Prior to that Agnete Gersing worked in the prime minister’s office as a deputy permanent secretary of state where Agnete Gersing was head of the secretariat for the Ministerial Committee for Denmark in the global economy (the work of the Globalisation Council).From 2000–2005 Agnete Gersing was deputy permanent secretary, Ministry of Finance, where her primary responsibilities were municipalities and counties, including responsibility for the annual negotiations on local government economy and the process with the structural reform, labour market policies, health-care policies, social policies, adult education and continued training, globalisation, publication of the Budget Review. From 1991–2000 Agnete Gersing worked in the Ministry of Economics, Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening and the Ministry of Finance and was director general of the Institute of Food and Resource Economics.Agnete Gersing was a member of the Danish Productivity Commission (2012–2014) and the Structural Commission (2002–2004). She has also chaired a number of committees and working parties including the OECD’s Network on Fiscal Relations across Levels of Government.She holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen in 1991. That same year she was awarded a gold medal from the University of Copenhagen for a thesis in economics.
