Michelle is an associate the corporate department of Bowmans’ Johannesburg office, and a member of the competition practice. Michelle has experience within a number of industries, advising clients on a range of matters; including advisory work, merger notifications, cartel investigations and leniency applications. She has BCom and LLB degrees from the North West University Potchefstroom Campus.

Michelle’s experience includes:

  • acting for Linde AG, a German-based chemicals manufacturer, in relation to the combination of the businesses of the Linde group and the Praxair group;
  • acting as local counsel for Time Warner Inc and AT&T, for purposes of notifying the merger between the parties to the South African Competition Commission;
  • acting for Royal Bafokeng Platinum Limited, in relation to its merger with Maseve Investments 11 Proprietary Limited, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Platinum Group Metals Limited, a Canadian company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange;
  • acting for as local counsel for Fortum Corporation in notifying its unsolicited takeover of Uniper SE to the South African Competition Commission;
  • advising one of the three large hospital groups in South Africa in the market inquiry into private healthcare; and
  • representing Pfizer, multinational pharmaceutical manufacturer, in relation to an excessive pricing complaint initiated by the South African Competition Commission.
