Philippe is head of the competition group. He is resident in the firm’s London office, but also spends a proportion of his time in Brussels. He is responsible for the running and development of the firm’s global competition practice, including through the Beijing and Hong Kong offices and ‘best friend’ firms.
Philippe has extensive experience of both EU and UK competition law with expertise in merger, cartel, behavioural and competition litigation cases in both jurisdictions.
Philippe’s recent highlights include advising: Booking Holdings in relation to its acquisitions of HotelsCombined and Momondo (the first meta-search acquisition to be reviewed by the European Commission and cleared at Phase I); Booking.com in relation to the multi-jurisdictional investigations throughout Europe into hotel online bookings; Equinix on its acquisition of Telecity and its disposal of assets to Digital Realty Trust; INEOS in relation to its PVC joint venture with Solvay, combining Europe’s two largest PVC producers; and one of the parties to the CMA market study into digital comparison tools.
Philippe is listed as a leading individual by Chambers, The Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal. Philippe is the president of the European Competition Lawyers Forum, which is used as a sounding board on policy and practice-related issues by the European Commission’s Competition Directorate General.
