Nurettin Kaldırımcı was born in Kayseri in 1953. After graduating from Atatürk University Faculty of Business Administration, he worked at the Ministry of National Education, Financing and Project Administration, then at the Atatürk University Faculty of Business Administration. He became an assistant professor in 1982, an associate professor in 1987 and full professor in 1994. He also served at the Erciyes University as head of the Department of Foreign Languages and as head of the Management and Organisation Major at the Department of Business Administration of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences.
From 1995 to 1999, Nurettin Kaldırımcı served as a member of parliament at the Turkish Grand National Assembly. During his term there, he also worked in the Plan and Budget Commission. Nurettin Kaldırımcı assumed his office as a member of the Turkish Competition Board on 27 March 2003 and became president of the Turkish Competition Authority on 2 November 2007.
Nurettin Kaldırımcı has served as chairman and consultant in various non-governmental organisations and associations. He has written articles and performed research and studies on organisational behaviour, business management, participation in management, training of administrators, and business policy.
